The mention of Robert Beich's note saying he intended to jump into the Grand Canyon has always intrigued me. Given that his brothers hired a helicopter and still found nothing, it makes me wonder if he genuinely went there or if it was a misdirection. The detail about him giving away his tools before leaving is significant to me—it sounds like he was divesting himself of his life, but also like he was tying up loose ends. If he planned to end his life at the Grand Canyon, why were there no traces found, especially when they searched so thoroughly? It’s like he vanished into thin air. I can't shake the feeling there might be more to this story than what's on the surface. Has anyone looked into whether he might have had unidentified connections in New Mexico or Texas? Or could he have simply set out to vanish and start over somewhere completely off-grid? Would love to hear your thoughts on this angle.
