I'm shocked to hear about the tragic shooting of Jeremy Scott Smith at Shotgun Willie's. My heart goes out to his family, especially his wife and children who are dealing with this unimaginable loss.
It's incredibly concerning to learn that Dewayne Wheat was able to make bail after being charged with this horrific crime. Given the nature of this incident, do you all think bond amounts in such serious cases should be higher? I mean, it's shocking that someone can be charged with murder and still walk free pending trial.
This really makes you think about how our justice system sometimes functions and how we can better protect those who work in security roles. Those men and women put themselves in harm's way every night to ensure folks get home safely after a night out. Let's continue to support the Smith family in any way we can and push for stronger protections for others in Jeremy's line of work.
