I’ve been following the Jalayah Hackman case, and something that's been on my mind is the role of community support in such tragic situations. It's incredible to see how Brittney Black and others have come together to organize a vigil at Yerkwood Park. Events like these seem so important in bringing communities closer, not just for mourning, but also for healing and standing up against violence. Jalayah clearly had a positive impact on those around her, and it shows in how everyone remembers her. Does anyone have insights or thoughts on how communities can further support families and friends of victims during these difficult times? I feel like sharing stories and memories can sometimes be a way to keep the positive spirit of victims like Jalayah alive.
Hey everyone,

I've been following the discussions surrounding Jalayah Hackman's tragic death, and something that's been weighing on my mind is how her bravery and compassion haven't been talked about enough. From what I've gathered, Jalayah was trying to de-escalate the situation during that awful night—a truly selfless act and a testament to her character. In a moment of chaos, she chose to step in and try to calm things down.

It’s so touching to see the community come together to honor her memory at the candlelight vigil organized by her cousin Brittney at Yerkwood Park. This collective grief and support show how deeply she touched those around her. I didn't know her personally, but her story and the way she lived her life—actively involved in her education and community—really resonate with me.

This is such a poignant reminder of the impact one person can have and the unnecessary tragedy of gun violence. My heart goes out to her family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. If anyone else attended the vigil or has stories about Jalayah they’d like to share, I’d love to hear them. Let’s keep honoring her legacy together.

Stay safe, everyone.
