Has anyone else been following the Tepe Dewayne Edwards case? I recently read about how the tragedy unfolded right before Christmas in the Norwood neighborhood. This must have been incredibly difficult for Tepe's family to endure, losing him over the holidays. It just makes the season so much harder for all those who loved him.
The suspect, Tommy Woods, was arrested pretty quickly, but I can't help but think about how many families are still seeking justice for their lost loved ones. Does anyone know if there have been any updates or if more community initiatives have been introduced since the rise in homicides during 2017? I really feel for the people who have to live with this kind of fear and loss on a daily basis.
Has anyone else been following the tragic case of Tepe Dewayne Edwards? I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact this senseless loss has had on his family and friends. It’s devastating to imagine receiving news like this just before Christmas, a time meant for family and togetherness. I read that Tommy Woods was arrested and charged in connection with the case. It's encouraging to see that there’s been some action taken, but I can only wonder what led to such a tragic outcome. We often hear about the numbers—like the 117 homicides in Birmingham for 2017—but sometimes it feels like we lose sight of the individual stories and lives behind those statistics. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this. I hope communities can find ways to come together and work on preventing more violence. Anyone here know if there’ve been any new initiatives in Birmingham to address the rise in crime?
