Anyone else in the community still feeling the void left by Willie "Shank" Shanks? I never had the privilege of knowing him personally, but the impact he had on Hayneville is undeniable. Locals often speak of Shank’s infectious positivity and his role as a community entrepreneur. Hearing how he was remembered, it’s evident he left a lasting impression. The candlelight vigil with 131 candles showed how many lives he touched. It's poignant that even those who didn't know him well could feel the loss. The recurring issue of gun violence here is deeply alarming—first Shank and then Sheriff Williams. We must come together to find solutions to this senseless violence. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Shank. Anyone else have any ideas on how we might better address these challenges in our town?
