On October 30, 2009, at about 4:29 a.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District found a man suffering fatal gunshot wounds alongside a building in the 4400 block of Hunt Place NE in Northeast Washington, D.C. The victim was identified as Robert Aren Eagleman. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives canvassed the area for evidence and potential witnesses in the immediate aftermath. No suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced; the case remains unsolved and active. Very little else about the circumstances leading to the shooting is publicly detailed.
