Earl Clayton Griffin, Jr. was shot in the late hours of Saturday, November 7, 2009, and found with gunshot wounds in the 2400 block of 11th Street NW in Washington, D.C. He survived the initial attack but remained gravely injured and died on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. The Metropolitan Police Department classified his death as a homicide and opened an investigation.
