Hey everyone,
I'm really struggling to make sense of how our justice system operates in cases like these. I've been following the case of Perry Steven Fields Jr., and the sentencing of Jamal Hamilton just baffles me. To think that someone could plead down from a murder charge to manslaughter and then possibly only serve a few years is just... I don't know what to say.
I can't even imagine what Perry's children are going through now that their father is gone. It's hard enough losing a loved one, but to see the person responsible face a sentence that seems so light, I just don't get it. How do we even begin to explain any of this to his kids?
I know plea deals can be tricky, and there's a whole legal system at play that might be beyond my understanding. Still, it feels like more should be done to ensure justice for the families affected. Does anyone else think the same, or am I missing something here?
Sending my thoughts and prayers to Perry's family. I hope they find some sense of peace through all of this.
Much love to all those keeping his memory alive.
