Wow, the twists and turns in John Betancourt's life are really something, aren't they? I can’t stop thinking about how his story was even featured on "The First 48." It's strange to see a local case presented on such a wide platform, but it just shows how complex his story was. It's especially tragic when you consider how things spiraled from that bizarre incident with the baby last June to his untimely death. It makes me wonder what happened in those months between the two incidents. I can't imagine what his family must be going through, seeing their loved one's life scrutinized on national TV while going through their own grief. It must be incredibly tough to see John remembered for the worst moments of his life instead of the person he actually was. Hopefully, as more details emerge, there will be some level of understanding or closure for everyone involved, especially his family.
