I was just thinking about the fact that Peggy Ann Cottrell's purse was found along the Iowa River with all her cash and ID still inside. It struck me as odd because if she left of her own accord, wouldn't she need money, or at least take her ID with her? It seems really strange to me that those things would be left untouched. If she intended to start a new life or just get away temporarily, having cash and ID would be essential, right? Plus, it's curious that the purse was discovered weeks later by a fisherman— makes you wonder what actually happened from the nursing home to that point near the river. Thoughts? Anyone know if the river area was searched extensively back then?
Has anyone looked into the timing of when Peggy's purse was found along the Iowa River? It seems so unusual for it to just be sitting there untouched, especially if it contained cash. Could it have been placed there intentionally, or maybe even drifted downriver if she had been near the water? I'm curious if there were any recent weather events around that time that might have affected the river levels, potentially moving the purse to a more exposed area where it could be found. Also, did anyone ever check if the purse was wet or dry when it was discovered? That might give us an idea of how long it had been there. It just feels like an important clue that hasn't been fully explored yet, and any small detail could help us find out more about what happened to Peggy.
