Lonzo Mitchell, a resident of Washington, D.C., was fatally shot on the evening of September 21, 2010. The shooting occurred about 7:55 p.m. in the 900 block of Southern Avenue SE. Emergency responders treated Mitchell, but he died from his injuries.

Mitchell left behind five daughters. The Metropolitan Police Department opened a homicide investigation, canvassed the area, and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
