I’ve been going down the rabbit hole on the Sanders Seligman case and was curious about something that often doesn’t get much attention: his purchase of Colombian emeralds. Okay, so $1,500 in 1980 wasn’t pocket change - that’s quite a chunk on gemstones. Was Sanders into gem collecting? Was he planning to sell them back home, or could it be more connected to why he went missing? I read about how he planned to gift them to his mom, but maybe there’s more to it? I wonder if anyone ever looked into the origin of those emeralds. Could these gems have led him into some trouble? It’s wild to think how something seemingly straightforward can have so many layers. Curious if anyone here knows more about this angle or has thoughts on the gemstone aspect?
