Hi everyone,
I recently found myself reflecting on the strength and courage it must have taken for Renesia Levon Caver to endure such a challenging relationship. It’s truly devastating to think about the emotional and physical hardships she might have faced leading up to that tragic day in April 2020.
I’ve been reading more about how domestic abuse situations can sometimes go unnoticed or unaddressed in communities. Renesia’s story sadly brings to light how critical it is for us to support and listen to our neighbors, friends, and family who might be in similar situations. Creating safe environments where victims feel comfortable seeking help is so important.
For those of us following the case, what are some ways we can honor Renesia’s memory and help drive the change that’s needed to address domestic violence in our communities? Would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions on how we can come together to support victims and prevent such tragedies in the future.
Sending strength to Renesia’s family and to all those who have faced similar struggles.

I’ve been following the Renesia Caver case, and my heart goes out to her family who must be experiencing unimaginable grief right now. It’s so unsettling to think how someone could take the life of a loving woman in such a violent manner. I was reading about how the suspect was finally apprehended—does anyone else find it chilling how often these cases involve a history of domestic abuse? It seems like such warning signs are too often ignored or not taken seriously enough. We need to seriously consider how we can improve support and protection for people who find themselves in similar situations. The community in Selma is understandably worried, and I feel like this could have been prevented with better outreach and resources. What can we, as a community, learn from this to prevent future tragedies? How can local authorities and advocacy groups work more proactively to identify and assist those at risk? Sharing our thoughts and maybe even personal experiences could be helpful for everyone here. Sending support to all who cared for Renesia. Stay strong.
