Is anyone else puzzled by the short timeline from when the "Sea Esta" left the dock to when it sank? I get that they had a motor issue and turned back for a bit, but it sounds like they were only out there for a few hours before the boat went down and they started swimming. Could this be related to some kind of structural issue with the boat that wasn't obvious at first glance? I know the theory is that it was overloaded, but I'm wondering if there were any signs or warnings that something was wrong when they took it out that day. Maybe experienced boaters here can weigh in on what could have caused such a rapid submersion. Also, has anyone found any documentation about the maintenance history of the "Sea Esta"? That might shed some light on whether this was a rare accident or something that had been building up over time. Just trying to piece together the sequence of events that afternoon.
