Angela Porter-Russell, a 45-year-old woman from Splendora, Texas, tragically died on December 18, 2014. She was last seen by her family on the evening of December 18, just a day after her daughter had given birth to twin girls. The cause of death was determined to be gunshot wounds to the body.
Following Angela's disappearance, her husband, Orville Clay Russell, aged 70, was arrested on January 24, 2015, and charged with her murder.
He was held at the Montgomery County Jail on a $1 million bond. The body of Angela Porter-Russell was found near the west side of the SH 105 bypass in Cleveland, Texas, just a few miles from the Russells' home on Mustang Road in Splendora.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the body found was indeed Angela Russell's. The investigation revealed that there had been a previous call to the sheriff's office in 2006 regarding family violence at the Russells' home, although no disposition was listed for that case. The Liberty County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers assisted in the investigation.
Orville Clay Russell was later convicted of murder in the 253rd District Court of Liberty County. The trial concluded on September 11, 2015, with Russell being found guilty of the murder of his estranged wife, Angela Deanne Russell.
