Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of security at events like the one at the Pike County Cattleman’s Complex, where the shooting took place. It’s disturbing that despite having security onsite, this tragic event unfolded the way it did. I’ve read that the responsibility falls onto the lessee to arrange security, but I can’t help but wonder if that’s enough. Should venue owners be more actively involved in ensuring safety, maybe by mandating additional security personnel or collaborating directly with local law enforcement? The loss of Devonta Givens and Jhakyndall Johnson is beyond words, and my heart goes out to their families. It's unbearable to think about them having to face such a traumatic loss. As a community, perhaps we need to push for more stringent safety measures and ensure no family has to suffer like this again. I’ve joined a local group discussing ways to advocate for safer setups at future events. Would love to hear thoughts on what tangible steps can be taken or if anyone has seen effective measures implemented elsewhere. Stay safe out there.
