I've been thinking a lot about how alcohol was reportedly involved in the tragic shooting of Daniel Lamar Merit. It's tough to imagine that what seemed like an ordinary day could turn into such a nightmare because of careless decisions. From everything I've read about Daniel, he seemed like such a bright and promising young man with so much ahead of him. It's especially upsetting to realize how substances can impair judgment and lead to irreversible consequences for everyone involved. My heart goes out to his family and friends who are left to grapple with this senseless loss. Hoping that others can learn from this tragedy to prioritize safety and think twice about the company they keep and the situations they find themselves in.
