Francisco Orlando Rivas was 19 when he was fatally shot on February 23, 2012. A Hyattsville, Maryland resident and 2010 graduate of High Point High School, he was a young father known to family and friends as Franky. The shooting happened about 6:15 p.m. in the 5000 block of 10th Street Northeast, near 10th and Gallatin Streets. Responding Fourth District officers found him with a gunshot wound and D.C. Fire and EMS took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch investigated and the family and community held a vigil in his memory.
