It's profoundly sad to think about the circumstances surrounding Amari Bonner's passing. As I try to wrap my head around this situation, I keep coming back to the role of the Snack Food Mart area. It seems this spot has seen its share of trouble. I wonder, how many incidents need to occur before real change is initiated? So many of our youths have dreams and potential, but they’re getting caught up in senseless violence. It's like every corner holds another threat. My heart goes out to Amari's family and friends — I can't begin to imagine their pain. Councilwoman Thomas has been vocal about the challenges, but is anyone really listening and doing anything about it? Selma shouldn't have to keep dealing with this level of violence. The community needs an actionable plan to restore safety, especially around these hot-spot areas. What does everyone else think might effectively help eliminate these tragic occurrences? Sending much love and strength to everyone affected by this overwhelming loss.
