On April 4, 2011, Jonathan Alonzo Woods, a 22-year-old Black man, was shot on the 400 block of Burbank Street SE in Southeast Washington, D.C. He survived for nearly two years after that April shooting but died on January 30, 2013 from the injuries sustained in the attack. His death was officially ruled a homicide linked to the earlier gunfire.
The Metropolitan Police Department assigned the case to homicide detectives. Public reports indicate no arrests have been announced and no motive or suspect identity has been disclosed. The shooting, the prolonged suffering, and the later ruling of homicide have left the case unresolved and the family without answers.
If anyone has information about the April 2011 shooting or the people involved, please contact the Metropolitan Police Department’s homicide unit.
