I keep thinking about the impact of community involvement on this case and how it might have played a role in the aftermath. It’s so moving to see local organizations rallying together to try to tackle the bigger issue of violence in Montgomery. It feels like they’re trying to turn this tragedy into a catalyst for change, which, I hope, can prevent other families from experiencing this pain. Corday Byrd’s loss is a grim reminder of the vulnerability of our youth to gun violence, and seeing community leaders calling for action gives me a bit of hope. We need more voices, more support, and more initiatives to make sure Corday’s death wasn't in vain.
