On the early evening of May 29, 2013, 20-year-old Nathaniel Nugent, a Black male, was found behind a residence in the 5300 block of 14th Street NW in Northwest Washington, D.C., after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities were called at about 6:00 p.m.; emergency personnel pronounced Nugent dead at the scene and the Metropolitan Police Department opened a homicide investigation.

Detectives from the Homicide Branch canvassed the area and appealed to the public for information. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
