I recently stumbled across this tragic case of Cindy Blackwell, and I can't stop thinking about how the dynamics in domestic incidents like this are so complex and harrowing. My heart goes out to Cindy's friends, family, and everyone who knew her at her job as a waitress. It must be incredibly difficult to process such a sudden loss. When I think about the family member who had to make that split-second decision to protect everyone else... it's just unimaginable. It's one thing to read about acts of bravery, but another to think about someone you know and love stepping into a situation like that. I hope they're getting all the support and counseling they need. I feel for the community in Foley too. In smaller towns, these incidents leave such a mark on everyone, and I can only pray they're pulling together to support one another right now.
