Does anyone know if there were any sightings of Maria or Ray around the time they vanished, either in Ventura or perhaps closer to the border? It's tricky when the details are so sparse, especially when a situation might involve crossing into Mexico. I read that family abductions sometimes mean a parent just vanishes into a different community. Was there any mention of Maria having connections in Mexico or even elsewhere? It could provide some insight into potential places they might have gone. Keeping an eye on any reports of them resurfacing would be great, or even hearing from anyone who might’ve known Maria before she left. Also, did they take any belongings or documents at the time? That might point toward an attempt at permanently relocating. Curious if anyone else has followed similar cases and can offer insights or suggestions on what might be helpful in tracking them down after so many years.

Has anyone else looked into the possible sightings of Ray and his mother over the years? I read somewhere that a few people reported seeing a boy matching Ray's description in Mexican border towns shortly after the abduction, but nothing ever came of it. It's frustrating to think that they could have been right under our noses and no one could verify if it was really them. I wonder if there are more recent sightings that just haven't been made public or maybe weren't taken seriously at the time. It makes you think about how many cases like Ray's might have slipped through the cracks because of jurisdiction issues or lack of cooperation between agencies. It's been so long, but I hope someday this gets solved for Ray's sake.
