I've been following the Maria Mendoza case for a while and something that's been on my mind is the lack of surveillance footage or witness statements from the day she vanished. Calexico isn’t a massive city, and you'd think someone might have seen where she went or who she was with last. It makes me wonder if there were issues with surveillance cameras in the area back in 2010, or if it’s just that people didn’t speak up. It's strange because in a lot of cases there’s at least one small piece of evidence like that, but for Maria, there seems to be almost nothing. Why do you all think that might be? Could there have been a malfunction with the cameras, or does it suggest something else entirely? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
