Barbara Jean Moore, a 64-year-old Black woman, was found dead in her home on the 4100 block of Gault Place NE in Northeast Washington, D.C., on the evening of Friday, June 27, 2014. Police were called and discovered her unconscious and unresponsive at about 8:35 p.m. An autopsy determined her death was a homicide by asphyxiation.

The Metropolitan Police Department opened an investigation and has appealed to the public for information. A substantial reward has been offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction, but there have been no public announcements of suspects or arrests. The case remains an unsolved homicide and the investigation is ongoing.
