Hey everyone, Was reading up on the tragic case of Ruochen "Tony" Liao and something caught my attention. Does anyone else find it odd that the kidnappers made such a specific and personal statement during the ransom call to his father? I mean, mentioning a divorce and financial ruin sounds like it was personal vendetta rather than a straightforward kidnapping for money. It got me thinking about the background between Tony and the kidnappers—especially "David" or Peicheng Shen. I wonder if there were deeper business entanglements or personal grievances that fueled this whole tragedy. Given the nature of high-end car dealings, maybe there was considerable bad blood? There's something deeply unsettling about the intertwining of personal grudges in criminal acts like this. What do you all think? Could this have been more about revenge than ransom? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

The aspect of this case that keeps me up at night is the role of the mysterious "David" a.k.a. Peicheng Shen. Does anyone else find it chilling that Liao felt uneasy enough to have someone watch their meetings from afar? It’s like he had this gut feeling that something wasn’t right. If Liao was already suspicious, what could have compelled him to still agree to meet with Shen? I can't help but wonder if there was an attempt to smooth things over or if there were threats involved. It just makes me think about how our intuition can sense danger, yet sometimes we feel cornered to walk into it anyway. What do you guys think motivated Tony to proceed with the meeting despite his clear suspicions?
