It's truly unsettling to hear about what happened to Maurice McGhee Davis. I can't stop thinking about how this occurred in broad daylight and how the deputies were so close by but still unable to prevent this tragedy. It makes you wonder how someone could be so bold or desperate to commit such an act with potential witnesses nearby. This part of Birmingham has been trying to rebuild its sense of community, and incidents like this can really set things back. My heart goes out to Maurice’s family and everyone affected. The fact that his death is the 64th murder investigation this year is hard to wrap my head around. Each case represents a family forever altered. Hopefully, anyone who knows something will feel compelled to speak up. It's so important for us as a community to work together toward safety and justice. Is anyone aware of any community efforts or groups coming together in response to this? Anything to support his loved ones or focus on violence prevention?
