Has anyone else noticed the peculiar detail about Colin wearing gold-rimmed glasses? I can't help but wonder if those might have made him more memorable to someone who saw him hitchhiking back in the day. Gold-rimmed specs weren't exactly subtle in the 70s! Given his distinguishing features, especially that slight deformity in his left hand, you'd think someone would have remembered encountering him. I wonder if there are any eyewitness reports that were filed at the time but maybe never got proper follow-up. It seems we often overlook such specific details when discussing missing persons, but they might just be key in jogging someone’s memory even years later. Has anyone come across any mention of a hitchhiker fitting his description in old local papers or reports? Sometimes little details like these can lead to big breaks.

I recently came across Colin Egan's case from 1972 and something struck me as odd. We know he called his family from San Francisco saying he was heading to Denver to catch a flight home, but has anyone looked into the strange timing of his last communication and his planned route? Considering it was the early '70s, and hitchhiking was fairly common, I wonder if there's any record of local events or festivals around that time that Colin might have been interested in. Could he have been sidetracked by something happening along the way? Also, given his father's political status as the mayor of Mequon, it's surprising there wasn’t more media coverage or political pressure at the time to find him. Perhaps there are untapped avenues in community events or political archives that might shed some light on why the investigation didn’t get more traction. Anyone familiar with the San Francisco or Denver areas back then have any insights on what might have distracted a young traveler in that era?
