Santos Garcia, 65, was assaulted during a robbery on the morning of May 10, 2015, while visiting a friend in the 300 block of Franklin Street NE in Washington, D.C. He was standing in a doorway when an unknown assailant suddenly attacked him and stole a small amount of cash. Garcia was treated for injuries that initially did not appear life-threatening.

Over the following months his condition worsened as a direct result of the blunt force trauma from that attack, and he died on September 9, 2015. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide. A police investigation and a reward have been announced, but no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the assault on May 10 or the person responsible is asked to come forward.
