Charles Wilbert Lancaster, 59, was shot in Southeast Washington, D.C., on the afternoon of Thursday, April 16, 2015, at about 2:47 p.m. The shooting occurred in the 100 block of Ridge Road, SE; the specifics of what led to the encounter have not been publicly detailed. He was treated at a hospital but died on Sunday, April 17, 2016, from complications of the gunshot wound he sustained twelve months earlier.
In June 2016 the medical examiner ruled Lancaster’s death a homicide caused by that gunshot. The Metropolitan Police Department issued a public appeal for information after the ruling. Reports up to that point do not indicate any arrests or identified suspects in the shooting.
If anyone knew Charles Lancaster, saw activity in the 100 block of Ridge Road, SE on April 16, 2015, or has information about the shooting, please come forward to investigators.
