Does anyone else find it chilling how Chief Sturgus's own service revolver was used in his murder? It's maddening to think that the very tool he relied on for protection became the instrument of his death. This element makes the case feel so much more personal, like whoever did this knew what they were doing and possibly even knew Sturgus himself. I've been reading up on the crime scene details, and it seems odd that no one saw anything suspicious in a bustling area like that, even if it was a chilly February night. Were there any theories about whether it could have been a planned ambush? If he was keeping tabs on illegal operations, perhaps someone got wind of it and took a drastic step to silence him. It's tragic for his family and the community that his dedication to confronting crime ended in such a grim fate, and even more so that justice was never served. What a difficult period that must have been for the city. Would love to hear thoughts on any other angles or theories people might have.
