I’ve been deeply engrossed in the tragic chain of events in Manley Hot Springs for a while now, and one aspect I can’t stop thinking about is Albert Moulton Hagen Jr. It’s haunting to know that, despite all the efforts, Albert’s body was never recovered. I can’t even begin to fathom the pain and uncertainty his family must still be feeling after all these years. It’s almost like a part of their world is perpetually missing, and they’re left to grapple with endless unanswered questions.
What really strikes me is how Albert’s disappearance is still a mystery. Unlike some of the other victims whose remains were found, it’s like Albert vanished without a trace. It’s heart-wrenching to imagine his family never getting the closure they deserve. Memorializing him at Manley Hot Springs Cemetery is a beautiful gesture, but I can’t help but feel that it’s not enough. There’s something deeply unsettling about a grave without a body.
For someone who was just visiting family, Albert’s disappearance in this small, close-knit community serves as a chilling reminder of how transient life can be, and how quickly a peaceful setting can become the backdrop for such horror. Does anyone else feel a particular connection to his story within this tragedy, or have thoughts on what might have happened to him that hasn’t already been discussed?
