I recently stumbled across the tragic case of David "Barry" McNulty, and my heart goes out to his family. It's chilling to think about what happened that late night in 1994. One thing that really struck me about this case is the use of the panic alarm. It must have been harrowing for first responders to arrive only to find Barry's life already taken by then. It's such a small detail, but it makes me wonder if there was usually any delay in response times for earlier alarms, or if something might have gone amiss that night. Fairbanks isn't a huge city, so it's shocking that someone could commit such an act without any leads, even after all these years. There must be someone out there who knows something. If only the community could come together and push for collective action. Perhaps more vigorous engagements or memorial events could keep the case alive in public consciousness. It's so important to keep Barry's story and his family's pain in the spotlight. Renewed efforts are essential until this case finds its resolution. Here's hoping the coming anniversary encourages anyone with even the smallest bit of information to come forward.
