I’ve been thinking a lot about the aftermath of what happened at Bethel Regional High. It's such a close-knit community, and the effect of losing someone like Joshua Palacios-Thomas must have been incredibly profound. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain his friends and family have had to endure. It's clear Joshua was a talented basketball player with a bright future ahead of him, and it's devastating to consider the opportunities and experiences he was robbed of. It makes me wonder about the support systems in place for students back then—were there warning signs that could have been addressed? Are they doing anything differently now to prevent such a tragedy from happening again? The memorials for Joshua show just how cherished he was. It's comforting to see that the community continues to honor him and keeps his memory alive. It's a testaament to what a remarkable young man he must have been.
