On February 19, 1997, 15-year-old Joshua Palacios-Thomas was fatally shot during a tragic incident at Bethel Regional High School in Bethel, Alaska. That morning, 16-year-old student Evan Ramsey brought a 12-gauge shotgun to school, concealed under his jacket. Upon entering the student commons area, Ramsey approached Palacios-Thomas, who was seated with friends, and shot him in the abdomen.
