I’ve been following Mandy Clemmons’s case closely and something that's been weighing on me is the sheer violation of trust she must have felt. It’s just so unsettling to think that someone she might have known could turn and take such a devastating action. We talk a lot about justice, and rightly so, but at the heart of this is a vibrant young woman who was cherished by her family and community. It’s hard to comprehend how someone on probation, already with a past of breaking the law, was in a position to cause such harm again. Were there warning signs that were missed? My thoughts go out to Mandy’s family and her little one. I can’t imagine the layers of grief and confusion they’re experiencing. It’s crucial we discuss ways to prevent such tragedies from repeating, by addressing how probation violations might not be properly monitored. Anyone else have thoughts on how the justice system can better protect potential victims?
