I've been following the discussion on Samson Mullenax's tragic death, and I just wanted to bring up something that might not have been deeply explored yet. It seems this accident took place in a gravel pit on Brown Mountain Road, which, from what I gather, isn’t an official shooting range. This could be indicative of some of the risks involved with using informal locations for firearms practice. I understand these areas are popular for casual shooting in rural places, but maybe it’s time for us to consider advocating for more secure and supervised spaces where enthusiasts can gather safely. The thought of someone as young as Samson losing his life in circumstances that might have been preventable is truly saddening. Samson’s commitment to his job at the Ketchikan Indian Community and Tribal Health Clinic shows he was a person dedicated to uplifting his community. Losing him like this is a reminder of how crucial it is to prioritize safety and create environments where such accidents are less likely to happen. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and everyone affected in the Ketchikan area.
