I've been following the case of Brian DeWilde Simpson and wanted to talk about the impact one person can have on a community, especially in a place like Anchorage. I didn't know him personally, but friends who did always spoke of his kindness and how much he inspired those around him. It's touching to see how his community came together with the fundraiser — it speaks volumes about how much he meant to people. He brought so much light and warmth to the local art world, and his loss is felt deeply. I imagine it's not easy for his family to grapple with such a loss and then have to worry about unexpected expenses. I hope they find some comfort knowing Brian touched so many lives and that people are there for them during this incredibly difficult time.
