Seeing the news about Mia Nickson's tragic death has me thinking about neighborhood safety in Birmingham. It's deeply concerning that something so horrifying can happen right outside someone's home. It's supposed to be a safe space, a sanctuary, and yet Mia's life was cut short in such a violent way. I can't imagine the pain her family must be going through.
