Hey everyone, I've been following the tragic case of DaOntay Dawon Jarrett, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. One thing that really struck me was how this incident happened in broad daylight, right in the parking lot of an apartment complex. It's terrifying to think that such violence can erupt in a place where people are just trying to live their daily lives. Birmingham's recent spike in violence is alarming, and it feels like there's a real urgency for the community and officials to come together. I know Mayor Randall Woodfin has been pushing for community initiatives, but it makes me wonder what more can be done on a grassroots level. Are there local groups that people in the community can support or get involved with? Every little bit helps, and it feels like now more than ever, people need to rally together to see change.
