Hey everyone, I’ve been following the Steve Austin Threatt case pretty closely and something that’s been on my mind is the role of the defense team in this trial. From what I’ve gathered, Jesse Mitchell Owen’s lawyers, Chad Black and Alex Mason, didn’t call any witnesses during the trial. I find this really intriguing, and I wonder what their strategy was behind that decision. Was it a lack of evidence in favor of Owen, or perhaps they believed cross-examination of the prosecution’s witnesses would be more beneficial?
I can't imagine how tough this has been for Threatt’s family as they went through the trial, but now with Owen convicted, I hope it provides them some solace. Also, kudos to Deputy District Attorneys Breland and Franks for securing what seems to be a solid case for the prosecution. I know we all wish it didn’t have to come to this, but it feels important to acknowledge the hard work that goes into seeking justice.
Does anyone have any insights into why the defense might choose a strategy like this? Or know if this is common in similar cases? Curious to hear your thoughts.
