I’ve been thinking a lot about the changes in mall security since the tragic shooting at Riverchase Galleria. It's so sad that it took the loss of young Royta Giles Jr. to bring these issues into the spotlight. As someone who frequents malls, I’ve noticed some of the changes, like more visible security presence and K9 units. While it’s a step in the right direction, I can't help but wonder how effective these measures truly are. Are they enough to prevent such a tragedy from happening again? My heart goes out to Royta's family; I can’t imagine the pain they’re enduring. Does anyone else have thoughts on whether these security changes will really make a difference, or is there more that can be done to protect our community spaces?
