I've been following the case of Dalton Bannister and the events leading up to that tragic night, and it's just difficult to grasp the entire situation. The focus often shifts to the attempted robbery and the gunfire exchange, but behind that action is a web of troubled pasts and lost futures. What really stands out to me is how these situations often have a ripple effect on families and communities.
Dalton's family, in particular, must be going through unimaginable pain. Losing a loved one is never easy, and in such a shocking manner makes it so much harder. I find it touching that instead of flowers, Dalton's family chose to honor his memory through donations to causes he cared about, like animal rescues. It paints a picture of a man who, despite his past choices, had a soft spot for animals, especially bulldogs. It's a little glimpse into the side of him his family and friends knew and loved.
It's crucial to remember that tragedies like this involve real people and real pain. As we discuss and try to understand the case, let’s remain empathetic to the families left behind and the community this has affected.

I'm actually Dalton's second oldest daughter and seeing this forum post is honestly a breath of fresh air. I've seen very little people show any empathy for my dad online and it's very upsetting because the people who knew him knew that he was an amazing person. He might've had a troubled past but he was self medicating his paranoid schizophrenia which caused him to make very bad decisions, no one ever talks about that part. Also I've heard from people who had contact with my dad that the woman who was hospitalized, later identified as a woman known as Star Robertson(I think that's how it's spelled) who my dad was in a complicated relationship with at the time, told my dad that Levi had stolen from her and/or hurt her in some way. In my dad's defense, he was a very kind, empathetic person so he liked to help people in any way he could, so he was most likely trying to take back whatever he thought Levi had taken from her. There was also a man named Doug at the scene(I know because he was in possession of my dad's favorite backpack that he took everywhere) and we believe he might've been the one who really shot my dad.

What a heartbreaking story. Thank you for posting about your dad. Mental health issues are no joke and can really make it hard to navigate a world that doesn't make a lot of sense sometimes. Self medication is a persons way of trying to help themselves through this. If people would have more empathy than judgement this would would be a better place.
