Hey everyone,
I’ve been reading through this forum and following the case of James Looney. This situation has really hit close to home, especially considering the ongoing struggles with gun violence in Birmingham. I can’t help but think about the ripple effect it has on so many lives, especially in the school where James and his girlfriend attended. The fact that grief counseling had to be set up tells us everything about the impact on those kids and teachers.
I'm curious about how the local community can better support schools to prevent more incidents like this. More counselors or after-school programs could really make a difference, don’t you think? I’d love to hear some thoughts or insights on what's already being done in Birmingham or elsewhere that could help combat these cycles of violence. It's just so upsetting seeing young lives cut short and families destroyed.
Hoping somehow, some change can come from this. Thoughts are with James' family and friends.
It's truly devastating to see another young life lost to violence, especially in our own community. I can't stop thinking about James Looney's girlfriend, who not only witnessed such a horrific event but also suffered severe injuries herself. She's so young and has had to endure more than anyone should at her age. I hope the support from the school’s grief counseling and the community helps her through this incredibly difficult time.
Does anyone know how she's doing now? I can't imagine the emotional and physical healing process she’s going through. It makes you wonder what more we could be doing to ensure our kids are safe and feel supported. If anyone has ideas on further support or initiatives that could help prevent such tragedies, now is the time to speak up. We owe it to James and his family, and to all the young people affected by such loss.
