Has anyone else been following the Gewayne Gilbert case? I’ve been thinking a lot about how this tragic loss has rippled through his community and the impact it has on his family and friends who must relive the event over and over again as the case unfolds. The fact that the jury ended up with a verdict of reckless manslaughter rather than murder is hard to wrap my head around. I know legal proceedings can be incredibly complex, but it must feel like another layer of pain for his loved ones. This case is such a stark reminder of how gun violence doesn’t just end at the victim but affects those connected in so many ways. My heart goes out to everyone touched by this tragedy. Can anyone share insights on how these processes usually work or any coping mechanisms for those looking for justice and closure?
