Does anyone else find it mind-boggling how often family members get involved in each other's crimes? In the case of Shawn David Jackson, I keep coming back to the role Neworker Hurt's brother played. I can't help but wonder if he was coerced or if there's more to their relationship that explains his involvement in such a heinous act. We often hear about people making poor decisions in the heat of the moment, but the level of planning and subsequent cover-up here just adds another layer to the mystery. The saddest part is how this family's loss is compounded by such betrayal. Imagine being Shawn's son, told that your dad just left, and then finding out the truth years later. I'm grateful the authorities were persistent in their investigations, but I hope there's some form of closure for his son. It's hard to process how complex family dynamics can turn deadly and leave such lasting scars.
