The family waited nearly 40 years for this. Roberta Leigh "Bobbie" Walls, killed May 15, 1986 in Virginia Beach, now has an arrest: 66-year-old Charles Berry was taken into custody May 18, 2026 in Newington, Connecticut and has been indicted in connection with the rape and murder. Police say modern DNA testing and the Virginia Sexual Assault Kit Initiative helped link Berry to evidence from the scene, he is being held on a $10 million bond and extradition to Virginia Beach is pending.

Virginia Beach Circuit Court Judge Stephen Mahan reduced that bond to $100,000. WTH is wrong with some of these judges!?

Hey everyone,
I’ve been following Roberta Walls’ case closely, and something that really sticks with me is the use of this phenotyping technology to create a composite sketch of the suspect. I can only imagine what it's like for Roberta's family to hold onto this kind of hope for justice after all these years. Still, as incredible as this technology is, it hasn't led to a breakthrough yet.
What I'm curious about is how accurate these sketches turn out to be. Has anyone seen other cases where a phenotype sketch led to new leads or an arrest? I wonder if there’s something more that could be done to spread awareness of this image or if the composite changes any public perceptions about finding the person responsible. It seems like such a powerful tool, and I truly hope it paves the way for answers in Roberta's case soon.
My heart goes out to Roberta’s loved ones. They’ve been enduring this for far too long without closure.
Thoughts appreciated, folks.
Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot about how Roberta Walls was so close to a place of learning like the Bayside Public Library just before that horrific night. It’s such a chilling thought that the very spots where we feel safe can sometimes be anything but. Libraries are supposed to be community havens, and to know she was last seen there is unsettling.
I can’t imagine how her family and friends must still feel after all these years, especially with the case still unsolved. I hope someone with information has the courage to step forward. It’s about time Roberta’s family got some answers and justice for her untimely death. The new DNA phenotyping tech is fascinating, and it gives a glimmer of hope, doesn't it? Here's hoping it leads to something more concrete soon! Anyone else think maybe expanding the search area might bring forward a new witness? Every bit helps, right?
Stay safe out there, folks. And to Roberta's family, we’re all hoping for resolution for you.
Take care.
