Stephen Lamont Roye, 26, was shot and killed during a large party at the American Legion Post 82 in Saluda, Virginia, in the early morning hours of November 2, 2003. Attendees reported the event began to get out of control as some people started to leave; an altercation then involved Roye and another group of males. Witnesses heard a gunshot and saw Roye fall, and the medical examiner later found he had been shot three times.

The homicide remains under investigation. Despite many people being at the gathering, no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced. Virginia State Police are seeking information about what happened that night.
