I’ve been digging into the Richard Eugene Stanley case and can’t stop thinking about the strange circumstances around that devastating night. What I find particularly puzzling is this unknown assailant coming out of nowhere. How did this person know to be there at that exact moment, and what motivated them to attack so violently and then vanish without a trace? It's beyond distressing for Richard's family and friends to have no answers after all these years. Could it have been someone who had a personal vendetta against Richard or maybe even a crime of opportunity? Sometimes I wonder if the campers or locals from around Big Cottonwood Canyon noticed anything unusual in the days leading up to or after August 21, 1978. Even the smallest detail might be the key to unraveling this mystery. Sending lots of thoughts to Richard's loved ones, but hoping there will be some breakthrough soon. If anyone remembers even the tiniest detail, please reach out to the police.

Did anyone else find it strange how there was an unknown assailant just waiting in the bushes at Oakridge campground? I've been researching this case for a while, and it seems unusual for someone to be hiding out at a campsite like that. It makes me wonder if this was a planned attack rather than a random act of violence. Was Richard targeted for some reason? I really feel for his family and friends—dealing with this kind of mystery for decades must be incredibly difficult. If anyone has theories about what might have been going on that night or knows anything more about Richard's life leading up to that day, it would be a huge help to this community and, hopefully, to getting justice for him.

Does anyone else find it strange how the killer seemed to come out of nowhere during Richard Stanley's murder at the Oakridge campground? I've been going over the details, and it just makes me wonder about how thoroughly they checked the area for evidence after it happened. It's such a busy place sometimes, and I always thought someone might have seen something or heard something odd. Especially back in 1978, when people weren't glued to their phones. My heart goes out to his family, who have spent so many years searching for answers. It's just so unsettling that his friend was the only one there and probably witnessed something so traumatic. I hope they’re still looking into any new technology that can shed light on what happened. I know it's a long shot, but maybe there's someone out there with memories or stories relayed by those who were around at the time. Any bit of information might bring his family some peace.
